Undergraduate Interns

Our undergraduate internships feature a variety of project topics including energy storage, sustainable forestry, coding, law and policy, and luxury branding. Intern teams consist of 2-10 interns and at least one mentor who is an industry or academic expert. The goal of the undergraduate internship program is to give students relevant, hands-on experience in an area of their preference. Internships are completed on a trimester basis and are held both virtually and in-person.

For compensation, interns may receive the following:

  • school credit

  • a stipend (with approval of an aid application)

  • outside funding

  • an online certification from Coursera

* current and rising Boston University juniors and seniors can apply for Yawkey Nonprofit funding through the Center for Career Development.

High School Interns

Over 10% of our interns are high school students. We give students experience and opportunities they would not otherwise have access to. High school interns often have the opportunity to be a part of undergraduate teams and continue interning as they enter college. We especially encourage students who are attending Title I schools and/or living in underserved and under-resourced communities to apply. High school internships have the potential for funding after completion and review of an aid application, and interns may choose to complete a college-level certificate program with Coursera.

Born Global Fellows

Born Global Fellows are Masters and PhD students pursuing graduate degrees in biomimicry, sustainability, regeneration, and project-related fields. Fellowship positions are funded, and fellows are assigned to mentor one of our undergraduate or high school intern teams and pursue research in an approved topic of their choosing relating to the work of Born Global.

Scholars in Residence

Born Global Scholars are PhD students, post-doc students, and experienced industry and academic professionals. Our Scholars have an outstanding role in shaping our internship and fellowship programs. Scholars have the opportunity to publish peer-to-peer reviewed research and receive funding for project-related research through stipends.

Artists in Residence

Born Global's artists in residence receive funding to pursue nature and sustainability-based projects. Additionally, selected artists may provide graphic design and illustrative work for the foundation's various projects and fundraisers.
